Grand Opera House, Oshkosh, WI

Type: Remodeling of historic opera house

Ganther’s architectural team is currently working on plans to convert the second floor office area into a lounge area for patrons to gather during show intermissions. The Grand Opera House opened its doors in 1883 and was renovated in 1986. It seats 668 with approximately 150 performances each year. The new lounge space will be used for special events and serving refreshments at intermission breaks during performances

The WaterMark, Green Bay, WI

Type: Multi-Use Retail, Office, and Residential

The $12 million WaterMark involves the redevelopment of the former Prange’s Department Store and later a Younker’s Department Store that will include retail, office and loft condominiums. The new construction component of the development features a parking structure, the new Green Bay Children’s Museum and Hagemeister Park Restaurant, named after the Green Bay Packer’s first football field. The project is located in downtown Green Bay. Ganther staff, Calumet County Bank and Robert E. Lee have provided drafting, financial, environmental, tenancy and preconstruction assistance to Vetter Denk, the architects and developers for the project. Groundbreaking is scheduled for fall 2009.

Bella Vista and Bella Vista Manor, Oshkosh, WI

Type: Independent and Catered Living with 24-Hour Care

Bella Vista is an adaptive reuse project involving the full renovation of the former Mercy Medical Hospital. The building spans over 250,000 square feet and includes 111 independent living units, 36 assisted living units, 34 market-rate apartments, a full service salon and spa, concierge service, fitness center, fine dining and cafe that is also open to the public.

Lawton Foundry Apartments, De Pere, WI

Type: Loft Apartments

The project involved the conversion of a former foundry owned by the Lawton Company to loft apartments in downtown De Pere just minutes from the St. Norbert College campus.

Institute of Paper Chemistry, Appleton, WI

Type: Commercial Office Buildings

After the Paper Institute of Technology relocated to Atlanta, GA, several architecturally significant buildings remained mothballed for several years. Moreover, portions of the grounds were contaminated with chemicals. Ganther worked closely with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to remediate the contamination and modernize the buildings while preserving the original Neo-Classic Architecture.

Boatyard Bar and Grill, Oshkosh, WI

Type: Waterfront Bar and Resturant

The Boatyard Bar and Grill was originally a manufacturing building and was later purchased by a local developer for boat part storage. The building’s architecture was kept intact and the interior was transformed into a unique bar and grill featuring exposed brick and original hardwood floors. It also has a spectacular outdoor patio area with access to Oshkosh’s downtown water front.

Fratellos Waterfront Restaurant and Brewery, Appleton, WI

Type: Waterfront Restaurant and Microbrewery

This project is one of several themed restaurants completed for the same client. It involved the renovation of the former Vulcan Hydroelectric Power Plant. The restaurant features magnificent views of the Fox River in one of Appleton’s most historic industrial areas, exposed brick walls, soaring ceilings, glass and metal sculptures and a vibrant color palette. It has 7,500 square-foot featuring a private dining area, bar and seating for 185 people. There is also an impressive wine cellar.
